No, I get that, but it's magic plain and simple. There's lots of other melee type magics (Palm Magic, for example, to state something canon off the top of my head) that wouldn't get this boost. Unless you wanna make this boost for all magic melee attacks, in which case I would be able to discuss this.
In any case tho, the point is, X Rank mage can now take someone out with just that sword if they're faster than the other person since they can attack as many times as they want with it and not get hit. Plus, at close range it's much harder to dodge than it is at long range, so imo people specializing with these close range weapons are gonna be a lot better off if they're already focusing on their speed to be able to dodge whatever comes close to them. That's why spells are only supposed to do damage once per duration.
In any case, how do these weapons work with stats as well? Do you even need a high strength stat to wield weapons?
